MRI Guwahati

How it works

From prescription to report, step by step

A clear walk-through of what happens between handing over your prescription and reading your final report. Use the anchor links to jump to any step.

1

Choosing the right MRI scan

The first step is to know which scan your doctor has actually asked for. The prescription will mention the body part (Brain, Cervical Spine, Knee, Whole Abdomen, and so on) and may specify whether contrast is needed. If you are unsure, ask your doctor to write the scan name clearly. If you still cannot read it, our support team can call the doctor on your behalf with your permission.

Most patients in Guwahati come to us already with a prescription. A small number arrive looking for guidance on what they should ask their doctor. We do not give medical advice, but we can describe the typical reasons each scan is ordered. The 15 scan-type pages on our website are written exactly for that.

2

Comparing prices in Guwahati

A Brain MRI in Guwahati can cost anywhere from ₹3,800 to ₹7,500 depending on the centre, the machine type, and whether contrast is used. We list every centre that offers the scan, the machine details, the accreditations, and the price side by side. There is no hidden booking fee.

When comparing centres, look beyond the price. A 1.5T scan with a 24-hour report is often more useful than a slightly cheaper scan that takes four days to come back. The location matters too. If you live in Maligaon and your scan is in Six Mile, account for the travel time, especially during Guwahati office hours.

3

Booking your slot

After picking the scan and centre, choose a date in the next 30 days and a 30-minute slot. Slots in Guwahati centres tend to fill up between 10 AM and 1 PM on weekdays. Mornings before 9 AM and late evenings between 7 PM and 9 PM are usually easier to grab.

Once the slot is selected, fill in the patient details: name, age, gender, mobile number, and email. The mobile number is verified with an OTP. Upload the doctor's prescription if you have it on your phone, otherwise carry it on the day. You can also upload past reports here so the radiologist can compare.

4

Online payment vs pay at hospital

Online payment is processed by Razorpay, an RBI-licensed payment gateway. You can use UPI, any credit or debit card, net banking, or major wallets. We never see or store your card details. Once paid, the booking is confirmed instantly and you receive an SMS and email.

If you prefer to pay at the centre, choose the pay-at-hospital option. Your slot is locked at zero deposit. You pay the centre directly on the day of your scan in cash, by card, or by UPI. This is also the choice for patients using cashless insurance, where the centre raises the pre-authorisation request.

5

On the day of your scan

Reach the centre 20 to 30 minutes before your slot time. Carry the doctor's prescription, a valid photo ID, and any previous reports. If you have insurance, bring the card.

At reception, mention your booking ID (it starts with MRG-) so the centre can pull up your details. The technician will run a safety checklist for metal implants, pacemakers, and pregnancy. Wear comfortable clothes without metal zippers and remove jewellery, hairpins, and dentures.

The scan itself is painless. You will lie inside the machine and stay still while it works. The machine is loud, and earplugs will be provided. Most scans take 25 to 60 minutes. If contrast is needed, a small cannula is placed in your arm before the scan.

6

Receiving your report

Most centres in Guwahati upload the report to your dashboard within 24 hours. Some can deliver the same day for an additional fee. You will receive an SMS and an email with a link as soon as the report is signed off.

The report is a PDF you can download, print, or share. The dashboard also gives you a secure share link valid for 7 days, which you can send to a doctor by WhatsApp or email. You do not need to carry a physical CD or film unless your doctor specifically asks for it.

7

After your scan

Take the report to your referring doctor for interpretation. Do not rely on internet searches for individual phrases in the report. Many findings sound alarming but are routine in context.

Keep the report in your account for life. It becomes a baseline for future scans. If you need a hard copy years later, you can re-download it from your dashboard. If you have feedback on the centre or the platform, write to our support email or use the support form in your dashboard.
